The UK Taxi and private hire industry is one of the largest taxi industries in the world, employing well over three hundred thousand workers ranging from drivers, operators, managers and owners. Everyday these businesses face numerous internal disputes, with the most common being amongst drivers complaining “certain drivers get favouritism for long distance jobs”. Drivers seek after these long distance jobs as they result in the greatest earnings, so logically they should be distributed equally throughout to keep a happy workforce.
We at Infocabs take this issue very seriously and understand that the integrity of the business and the morale of the drivers are deeply dependent on equal treatment. For this reason we developed a practical solution to this problem with the feature called “Rota list”
Rota List
The rota list feature works by setting a threshold of a certain amount of money (e.g. £20) where any incoming job above this value is categorised as a “high-pay job”. The Infocabs system automatically creates a randomised list of all the active drivers and automatically sends it to the first driver. After he has completed the job he is then removed from the list, and the next “high-pay job” is sent to the next driver. In this way all drivers have an equal chance of receiving a high value job and stops individual drivers from receiving more than their colleagues. This feature is completely customisable (e.g. the value of a high-pay job can be adjusted) and can be switched on/ off at the discretion of the manager.
This feature has proved extremely beneficial in removing driver disputes regarding the distribution of high value jobs and improved the smooth running of taxi companies.
